Discover Bangkok's hidden gems
Don your explorer hat & discover Bangkok's hidden gems.
Bangkok is an intoxicating jumble of serenity and chaos woven into a tightly knit society populated with some of the most friendliest folk on the planet. And it’s never boring – ever.
But it’s easy to feel a little overwhelmed with just how much there is to do in this Southeast Asian metropolis – that is, unless you happen to stumble upon a handy little guide that points you towards all its hidden gems, such as this one!
Did you know that in Bangkok you can…
VISIT JJ GREEN MARKET
If you’re seeking a much more chilled out version of Bangkok’s humongous Chatuchak Weekend Market (which is literally next-door), then visit Chatuchak Green (aka JJ Green Market) instead.
This shopper’s paradise has only just recently opened to become one of the coolest open-air lifestyle and community malls in the city. What makes it special is its focus on creating an atmosphere where you’ll want to drop your shopping bags and hang out for a bit at one of the on-site bars and eateries.
JJ Green Market is only 200 meters from BTS Mo Chit Station and MRT Station, located next to the Children’s Discovery Museum.
WANDER AROUND ASIATIQUE THE RIVERFRONT
Where in Bangkok can you find shopping, dining, sightseeing and activities all under the one roof? Hint: it’s by the river…
Asiatique the Riverfront is Bangkok’s first large-scale riverside community mall and it’s recently become a hive of activity for both locals and tourists. It’s open every single day from 4 p.m. until midnight, however the best time to visit is between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
GO FOR A TUK-TUK MIDNIGHT FOOD TOUR
Combine an exhilarating Tuk-Tuk tour of Bangkok with what the city is best known for: its glorious food!
On a Tuk-Tuk Midnight Food Tour, not only will you ride around on the city’s iconic mode of transport – the 3-wheeled Tuk-Tuk – but you’ll also go beyond the tourist spots and uncover authentic culinary treats that only the locals know.
HAVE A WORLD-CLASS BEAUTY AND SPA TREATMENT
Of course, no visit to Thailand would be complete without a massage. But Bangkok offers much more than just a rub down.
In fact, Bangkok is a world-class beauty and spa treatment destination, and travellers here will be able to indulge in a range of treatments, such as body scrubs, hand and nail spas, and of course hitting-the-spot Thai massages.
VISIT THE JIM THOMPSON HOUSE
Get a dose of history and learn about the late silk tycoon Jim Thompson inside his former home – an exquisite example of Thai architecture. Inside, you’ll also find an impressive collection of rare Asian artefacts.
The Jim Thompson House is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
EXPLORE THE BANGKOK ART AND CULTURE CENTRE (BACC)
Visit the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and enter Thailand’s world of contemporary art.
The BACC was designed to be the premier hub and meeting place for Thai artists, whilst also providing cultural programmes for the community.
GET YOUR ARTS AND CRAFTS ON
Leave Bangkok with a new skill under your belt by getting some hands-on experience in painting, weaving, paper making, and more. Art and craft workshops are a great way to connect to Thai culture and so much fun at the same time!
